The Beginner's Guide To Spirituality For Writers

Introduction

Do you want to have a happy life and successful career? You might not be aware of how easy it is to get started.

The answers lie within spirituality, and in becoming a more spiritual person. And before you click away, I promise this post is not about religion, and will not metaphorically shove anything down your throat. It is simply to open your eyes to a new way of thinking.

Spirituality can help you find the answers to how to achieve a happier, more successful writing life, and this blog post will teach you how.

What is spirituality?

Spirituality is the awareness that there are larger forces at work in your life. - (tweet this!)

What these larger forces are is always up to personal interpretation. I’m not necessarily talking about God or any other religious figure, but you can think of it that way if you’d prefer.

I simply call it, “The Universe,” because I see that as the ultimate larger force. It is ever-expanding, awe-inspiring, and something that no one will ever be able to fully comprehend or explain.

So, how are the larger forces at work, exactly? Here are a few ways:
  • The universe can make whatever you do, work for you. There is no singular way toward your destiny, and even if you feel you've messed up somewhere along the line, you can't "mess up" your destiny. No matter what happens in your life, or whatever you do, everything can work towards your higher purpose.
  • Nothing happens by accident. Bad things happen sometimes in order to change you, they are to strengthen you, and to educate you - so that when it finally comes to it, you leave a stronger legacy to the world.
  • There is a larger purpose for you. The purpose of the human race in general is to live, evolve, then procreate: to birth the new generation who will be slightly different, and slightly more advance each time. Then, there is an individual purpose that you, and only you, are destined to fulfil.

We have our own individual purposes to fulfil, as well.

  • Does being a writer somehow just "feel right" to you?
  • Does it come easily, and naturally?
  • Does it make you feel aligned with something bigger, and more powerful?

Your purpose then, my friend, is to write! You should click here.

How does spirituality work?

There’s no special ritual to become a spiritual person. (I wish there was, though! That would be cool!)
You just have to decide when you would like to begin.

  • Do what makes you feel good inside. You’ll know you’re living a spiritual life when you can go to sleep at night, and not stress about anything that is within your power to change. If you always do what feels good inside, you should always be without conflict within yourself. As long as it doesn’t harm anyone else, and is within reason, do it. This is the best way to respect the larger forces in your life, and it will allow whatever is destined for you to easily find its way.

  • Follow your own inner guidance system. It was given to you for a reason: to keep you on a healthy path and to keep you out of danger. Believe whatever it says the first time. We all have those red flag moments in life that we tend to shrug off, most of the time - because we don’t even really know how to explain it to ourselves, let alone to others. But here’s the thing: You have a right to feel what you feel, and you don’t have to explain. If it doesn’t feel right, don’t do it.

(There are some excellent examples of the meaningless stuff we waste time on, here, by +Chelsea Fagan).

  • Learn to accept the unexpected and inexplicable events in your life. You have to trust that they are part of a larger plan, because it is, even if you aren’t able to see it right now. You never know what might be taking place in your life right now that you’ll really appreciate in the future, because it either taught you something important, or led you to better things.

  • Discover what “success” and “happiness” would really mean to you. They are more than just words, remember that. You have to decide on a point where you know you'll be happy and successful, and won't be expecting or seeking any more.

The Authorship Program® can help you do this by helping you to answer deep, meaningful questions about success and happiness. It also comes with worksheets so you have space to brainstorm and develop these concepts for yourself, once and for all.

How will this help my writing?

Spirituality helps you to see the truth, which sets you free. - (tweet this!)

You're meant to be a writer, which is why you’re here. It’s why you’re on this blog, and it’s why you’re reading this blog post.

If you choose to believe in spirituality: think about how courageous you’d be, believing that The Universe has always got your back. Imagine how much more writing you’d get done!

Conclusion

Respect the larger forces in your life by doing what makes you feel good inside
This will lead you to your versions of success and happiness.
